NatureHub

Project Overview:

Design an app and a responsive website for a camping supply store to advertise and sell its products.

The Problem:

The camping supply store currently lacks a strong digital presence, making it difficult for customers to browse, learn about, and purchase products online. The absence of a dedicated mobile app and responsive website limits customer engagement, reduces sales opportunities, and creates a poor user experience, especially for mobile users who represent a growing portion of online shoppers.

The Goal:

To design a user-friendly mobile app and responsive website that allows customers to easily discover, explore, and purchase camping products. The solution should showcase the store's inventory, provide an intuitive shopping experience, and support both desktop and mobile users with seamless functionality, ultimately increasing online sales and enhancing customer satisfaction.

User Research

Summary

To better understand the needs, frustrations, and behaviors of potential users, I conducted user research through online surveys and informal interviews with outdoor enthusiasts, beginner campers, and occasional adventurers.

Key insights include:

  • Malaysian campers are diverse: From budget students to serious trekkers and glamping families.

  • Trust & Convenience: Across all personas, users want trust, clarity, and convenience in their digital shopping journey.

  • Product Details: The opportunity lies in bundled products, localized advice, and seamless app/website experiences that cater to both beginners and advanced users.

Takeaway: A well-designed app + responsive website can become a trusted one-stop hub for Malaysian camping needs, driving sales while enhancing customer satisfaction.

Pain Points

1

Lack of Digital Presence

Users cannot easily browse or buy camping gear online no dedicated app or responsive website reduces trust and accessibility.

2

Unclear Product Information

Users struggle with sizing, specs (e.g., tent capacity, waterproof rating), and whether gear is suitable for Malaysia’s tropical weather.

3

Limited Convenience & Availability

Stockouts, slow shipping (especially to East Malaysia), and no reliable pickup option frustrate customers planning last-minute trips.

4

Poor Post-Purchase Support

New/beginner campers find it hard to set up gear; no tutorials, local reviews, or guidance leads to wasted purchases and dissatisfaction.

User Study: Findings

To test whether users can easily navigate core flows (onboarding, login, browse, wishlist, checkout, profile) in the NatureHub camping app, and identify pain points before moving into the actual design.
